Recently, the results of the 12th Asia and Pacific Mathematical Contest in Modeling (APMCM) in 2022 were announced. The team composed of Yang Nan，Jiawei Shuai and Guangzheng Chen, three students from the 2020 class, won the first prize in the undergraduate group (supervised by Dr. Dachuan Chen, an assistant professor at our School)
APMCM aims to further popularize the knowledge of mathematical modeling, train the logical thinking ability of college students to analyze and solve problems in the information society, improve their comprehensive ability in mathematical modeling to solve complex social and engineering problems in multiple industries, and encourage them to actively participate in extracurricular science and technology competitions.
The competition was held from November 24 until November 28, 2022, and was attended by around 27,000 students from over 820 universities, who submitted 5748 research articles. The first prize rate was only 5%.
